Carter Gowrie, Chairman & CEO
Carter is the founding partner of Gowrie Group, a leading independent insurance agency which has been advising clients in New England and beyond since 1974. He is also the architect of the highly successful “Burgee Program,” Gowrie’s specialty insurance program for yacht clubs. Carter is a lifelong boater and internationally accomplished sailboat racer. He is a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, NY and an active member of US Sailing. He resides with his wife and five children in Old Saybrook, CT.

Ed Gumbrecht, President & Chief Operating Officer
Ed joined Gowrie in 2003 after an 18-year career with insurers Aetna C&S and Chubb Corp where he managed diverse business functions such as Administration, Human Resources, Marketing and Distribution and Claim and Loss. He was the President of Mount View Indemnity a Bermudan captive reinsurance company. Later he founded GCS which provided business consulting services to many of the largest insurance companies in the world. He resides in Madison, CT, with his wife and two daughters.

John Fisher, President and Principal, Personal Insurance Division
John, the founder of Fisher and Fisher Associates of Darien, CT – which merged with Gowrie in 2007 – has 25 years of property casualty, risk management, and personal risk advisory insurance experience at the corporate, agency, and individual levels. A lifelong boater, sailor, and ocean racer, John resides with his wife and three children in Darien.

Skip Young, President and Principal, Benefits Division
Skip began his insurance career at Paul Revere, where he managed the CT operations for many years before starting Gowrie's employee benefit’s division. Skip is a competitive sailor and international racer; Skip sails his J105 from Duck Island Marina in Westbrook, CT. Skip and his family reside in Guilford, CT.

Chris Pesce, Secretary and Managing Partner
Chris began his career in insurance as an intern for Maritime General Agency, while completing his bachelor degree in business administration and finance at Saint Joseph’s College in NY. Chris took over as the General Manager of Maritime General Agency in 1997, and later moved the operations, now known as Maritime Program Group, to the current headquarters in Connecticut. Chris is a lifelong boater, and hails from the south shore of Long Island, NY. He and his family currently reside in Madison, CT.

Brad Preston, Senior Vice President and Principal
Brad, a founder of VFIS of Southern New England – which merged with Gowrie in 2012, has more than 20 years insurance and risk management experience, in the U.S. and Asia. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island and served in the U.S. Army Special Forces. His practice includes municipalities, nonprofits, and other select clients throughout New England.

Chris Brodeur, Senior Vice President and Principal
Chris is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Business where he majored in in Risk & Insurance. He began his insurance career with the Hartford Insurance Company and in 1989 became a commercial agent - and later partner - with a large Insurance Agency in Waterford, Connecticut. He has enjoyed working with clients in the commercial insurance field for over two decades. His practice includes a variety of businesses with whom he has built strong relationships. In the fall of 2009, Chris joined Gowrie Group, and became a Gowrie Group partner in 2013. He and his wife and four children reside in Glastonbury, CT.
