04/30/2018 | Drone Insurance Solutions by Gowrie Group View this item »Drone uptake is growing at a steep trajectory, and sailors, sailing organizations, and the sailing industry are taking notice. Before joining in the fun, Gowrie Group recommends that all drone operators and drone owners take time to understand the related FAA regulations, industry requirements, insurance needs, and safety best practices. Significant insurance coverage gaps can arise because there is often an aviation exclusion in standard Commercial General Liability policies for owned drones. Flying a drone without coverage can expose you, your assets, and your organization to significant lawsuits and claims for bodily injury or property damage. To meet this coverage gap, Gowrie Group is pleased to offer our clients two options for purchasing Drone Insurance: an episodic hourly policy by Verifly and an annual policy through Global Aerospace. Both solutions can be purchased online.

05/02/2016 | Could you be sued by your nanny, gardener, or driver? View this item » Despite background checks, “bad actors” sometimes slip through the cracks. If one of these individuals is your nanny, driver, housekeeper, or gardener, they may represent your greatest threat for a significant lawsuit, especially if your relationship with them takes a turn south. In addition to the risk of mis-hiring, employer behavior can be misinterpreted and mistakes made. Affluent families with household help should talk to their agents about the benefits of a standalone employment practices liability insurance policy (EPLI) or an endorsement to their existing personal liability policy. While many states don’t require employers to obtain workers’ compensation insurance for their domestic employees, purchasing workers compensation for domestic help is prudent risk management. Lacking this, you could face significant exposure if one of your domestic workers is injured on the job or becomes ill, and choses to file a lawsuit. www.gowrie.com/frm |
