History

In 1974 Gowrie began with a simple mission – insuring boats and protecting their owners. Over the years, our clients’ needs matured, our expertise expanded, and our business developed into one of the largest and most well–respected, independently owned insurance agencies.

As Gowrie grew, we became an organization comprised of many linked companies, programs, and brands, including Gowrie Barden & Brett, Gowrie Brett & Young, Fisher & Fisher Associates, Brewer Preferred Insurance, VFIS of Southern New England, Shoreline Insurance Agency, and The Burgee Program. All these Gowrie companies share the same values: insight, analysis, and service excellence. In 2009, to align with our goals of straightforward communication, expert advice, and comprehensive solutions we began operating under one consolidated name – Gowrie Group. In 2014, Gowrie Group celebrated its 40th year in business. In 2019, Gowrie Group joined forces with Risk Strategies and is now a division of Risk Strategies (Press Release).
